Synopsis

지구상에 식량은 절대 부족하지 않다. 오히려 3분의 1이 버려지고 있는 것이 문제다. 유럽과 북미에서 버리는 음식만으로도 전세계의 굶주린 사람들을 3번이나 배불리 먹이고도 남길 수 있다. 유럽연합 각국에서는 매년 3백만 톤의 빵이 쓰레기로 둔갑한다. 영화는 이처럼 우리의 소비 방식이 빚어낸 엄청난 낭비에 대해 이야기한다. 어떻게 해야 지구의 자원을 동등하게 분배할 수 있을까?
Why do more than one billion people go hungry? What happens to all the food? It’s not that we don’t have enough of it but that around a third of it gets thrown away… The food thrown away in Europe and North America would be enough to feed all the hungry people in the world three times over. Three million tones of bread are thrown away in the European Union each year alone. This film looks at the huge waste created by the way we consume. How do we get the world to share its resources equally?

발렌틴 투른은 사회, 개발, 환경, 교육 등의 이슈로 40여 편이 넘는 다큐멘터리를 제작한 감독이다. 2012 서울환경영화제에서 상영되기도 한 대표작 <음식물 쓰레기에 대한 불편한 진실>은 많은 영화제에서 상을 받았다.
Valentin THURN is an author of more than 40 TV documentaries and reports on social- developmentenvironmental- and educational issues. With the documentary Taste the Waste, he won ten awards and nominations.
