Synopsis

아이티 대지진으로 150만 명의 사람들이 집을 잃었다. 12살 소년 후벤스 라투르 역시 그 중 한 명이다. 하지만 후벤스는 황폐한 아이티 풍경을 소재로 누구나 감탄할 만한 아름다운 예술작품을 그려낸다. 가난 없이는 부유함도 가질 수 없다고 말하는 후벤스. 우리는 풍요에만 집중하느라 인생의 소중한 가치를 잊고 사는 건 아닐까?
Can a boy paint his way out of poverty? 1.5 million Haitians were left homeless by the earthquake. Jouvens LATOUR was one of them. He’s only twelve. He sees the world with the clarity of a child - and an artist… He creates beautiful art works in Haiti’s broken landscape. Jouvens says that ‘without poverty we would not have such wealth’ - do you agree that by focusing on material wealth we forget to value what really matters in life?

조나단 스택은 지난 2년 간 아이티영화학교에서 멘토로 봉사했다. 그곳에서 만난 사람들과 팀을 이뤄 제작한 <폐허를 색칠하다>는 아이티의 시각으로 빈곤을 다루고자 한 작품이다.
For the past 2 years, Jonathan STACK has been traveling to Jacmel to serve as mentors to Cine Institute’s film school. In this, their latest collaboration, they collaborate with crew members to address the issue of poverty, told from a Haitian perspective.
