Synopsis

중국 최초로 유전이 발견된 도시 위먼. 한때 꿈과 화려함을 자랑하던 도시였지만, 석유가 고갈된 후 이제 이 곳에는 쇠락의 기운만이 감돈다. 정부기관과 석유사업소는 이미 철수했고 9만 명에 달하던 주민들 대부분이 생계를 위해 다른 곳으로 이주하면서 도시는 텅 비어가고 있다. 영화는 위먼을 떠나지 못한 채 절망적으로 살아가는 빈곤층의 모습을 좇으며, 개발과 개혁만을 중시하는 중국자본주의의 이면을 고발한다.
Yumen City, where China’s first oil field was found, was once the city of glories and dreams. Half a century passing by, its oil resources are depleted. The government and oil bases moved out and over 90,000 residents migrated, leaving it a nearly empty city. The documentary explores the social problems emerging along with China’s dramatic reforms by focusing on the underclass’ hopeless struggle for living.

저장위성TV에서 감독으로 일하고 있다. <중금속 인생>(2009), <동동의 소망>(2010) 등 주로 중국사회의 환경, 노동자, 청년문제들을 주제로 한 다큐멘터리들을 연출해왔다. 세계 여러 영화제를 통해 주목받았으며, 지금까지 23개의 상을 수상하고 100여 차례 후보지명을 받았다.
JIN Huaqing works in Zhejiang Satellite TV as a director. His works, Heavy Mental, Desire of Changhu, Lament of Yumen, concerned about the themes environment, workers, and youth issues. His works received 23 awards at international film festivals, and nominated nearly 100 times.
