Synopsis

캐나다의 세계적인 타르샌드 생산지 앨버타주. 이곳 하류의 치폐우얀 항구 사람들은 타르샌드 개발때문에 흘러나오는 독성물질로 고통 받고 있다. 마실 물도 없이 사람들은 암으로 죽어가고, 생선과 고기도 먹을 수 없게 된 절박한 상황. 이제 이곳에서 나고 자란 마을 어린이들이 물을 지키기 위한 행동에 나선다.

Keepers of the Water is a short film about a group of Native children in Fort Chipewyan, Canada. Their community sits directly downstream from the Alberta Tar Sands - the most environmentally toxic industrial project in the world. The members of their community are dying of rare forms of cancer, the fish and moose meat have tested positive for highly toxic levels of arsenic, the water is no longer drinkable. Then, these kids came together to protest this environmental crime.

Director 아옌렌 리베로나 Ayelen LIBERONA

댄서 출신인 아옌렌 리베로나는 토론토대학교에서 인류학을 전공했다. 영상에 매력을 느끼고 영화연출에 뛰어들어 2005년 <폴링>을 완성했다.
