Synopsis

영국 브라이튼에 위치한 ‘크랭스’라는 자전거 수리점에는 뭔가 특별한 것이 있다. 봉사자들에 의해 운영되는 이곳은 하나의 작은 수리점에 불과하지만, 그 속에는 공동체, 환경, 소비문화, 자본주의 등 많은 환경적, 경제적, 정치적 의미가 있다. 크랭스를 운영하는 독특한 사람들의 생각을 통해, 환경파괴를 초래하는 소비문화에 대한 대안으로서 크랭스가 어떤 역할을 하는지 보여준다.

Cranks, which is a bike repair shop run by volunteers in Brighton, UK, has something different. Even though it is just a sort of small workshop, it has a variety of political and economic meanings, such as volunteering, the environment, consumer culture, and capitalism. In this respect, the film shows how Cranks plays a role in society as an alternative of consumer culture causing the destruction of the environment through a number of interviews with cranks at Cranks.
